Las mastitis cl\u00ednicas en ovejas y cabras no son tan frecuentes como en vacas, pero cuando aparece en un reba\u00f1o, causa un da\u00f1o muy elevado. Es por esto que necesitamos saber cu\u00e1les son los principales responsables de la mastitis cl\u00ednica en peque\u00f1os rumiantes, de modo que podamos actuar en consecuencia y evitar problemas graves. \u00bfEs S. aureus<\/em> el \u00fanico responsable de estas mastitis?<\/strong><\/div>\n

DESCRIPCI\u00d3N GENERAL<\/h2>\n

De todos los casos de mastitis<\/a> que ocurren durante un periodo en una explotaci\u00f3n de peque\u00f1os rumiantes, es frecuente aislar un pat\u00f3geno \u201cprincipal\u201da nivel de reba\u00f1o<\/strong>. Esta caracter\u00edstica epidemiol\u00f3gica peculiar (no compartida por vacas lecheras) se debe a dos motivos: primero, la mayor\u00eda de las bacterias son \u201ccontagiosas\u201d<\/strong> (Staphylococci, Mycoplasmas, algunos Streptococci etc.) para y\/o a trav\u00e9s de corderos (Pasteurellaceae<\/em>, Staphylococci, etc.) y la producci\u00f3n est\u00e1 muy sincronizada (concomitancia de periodos de susceptibilidad).<\/p>\n

La frecuente existencia de un pat\u00f3geno principal es un problema clave al implementar programas de control tanto para la vacunaci\u00f3n como para el tratamiento general preventivo.<\/p>\n

La incidencia de la mastitis cl\u00ednica caprina y ovina es normalmente menor del 5-7\u00a0% anual<\/strong> (este porcentaje puede que est\u00e9 subestimado, ya que en muchas ocasiones no se registran las mastitis cr\u00f3nicas leves). Este valor medio puede considerarse un objetivo t\u00e9cnico a conseguir para reba\u00f1os lecheros.<\/p>\n

\u201cS. aureus es la causa m\u00e1s frecuente de mastitis cl\u00ednica\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

PRINCIPALES PAT\u00d3GENOS DE MASTITIS CL\u00cdNICA<\/h2>\n

Entre los principales agentes causantes de estas IMI<\/a> (infecciones intramamarias) cl\u00ednicas espor\u00e1dicas, Staphylococcus aureus<\/em> es el m\u00e1s frecuente. Cualquier ganadero conoce la forma cl\u00ednica t\u00edpica de mastitis por S. aureus<\/strong><\/em>: la denominada mastitis \u201cgangrenosa\u201d,<\/strong> que deber\u00eda denominarse mastitis necr\u00f3tica (\u201cblue-bag\u201d o bolsa azul para criadores de ovejas de habla inglesa).<\/p>\n

Otros organismos relevantes causantes de mastitis cl\u00ednica espor\u00e1dica son los estafilococos (Staphylococci) coagulasa negativos (SCN), estreptococos, coliformes y corineformes. En el caso de animales con lactancia natural de corderos (o cabritos), tambi\u00e9n se ha aislado Mannheimia haemolytica<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Estos principales grupos bacterianos caracterizan la situaci\u00f3n \u00abnormal\u00bb inicial, de los reba\u00f1os sin brotes (Bergonier et al., 2003). Cuando la situaci\u00f3n epidemiol\u00f3gica se deteriora, el reba\u00f1o sufre un brote epizo\u00f3tico<\/strong> repentino (aumento de la incidencia generalmente en los 3 primeros meses de lactaci\u00f3n) o una afecci\u00f3n enzo\u00f3tica<\/strong> con las recurrencias habituales al inicio de cada campa\u00f1a l\u00e1ctea (animales j\u00f3venes).<\/p>\n
